Meet the YTP Ambassadors
Annabel Amadin
What athletics club and school/college are you associated to?
“I am a Sale Harriers Manchester athlete and I go to Holy Cross College in Bury.”
What event do you compete in?
“My main event is Shot Put, but I recently started doing the Discus (throw) and have found love for another event which I hope to progress in too.”
What is your Personal Best and what is your greatest achievement?
“My Personal Best in Shot put is 15.59m and my Personal Best in Discus is 43.70m. I would say my greatest achievement was becoming National Champion in Shot Put after a rocky season and proving to myself that I am still an amazing athlete that is able to perform at a high standard when required.”
What first got you into the sport?
“I got into Athletics through my Primary School PE Teacher, Vesna Dragsic. She recognised my athletic abilities and said that I should try joining her daughter’s Athletics club. I fell in love with the sport straight away and since that day I have never looked back.”
What are your goals and aspirations?
“My goals are to win a gold medal at the Olympics and raise the profile around the throwing event. Hopefully more people will want to try the sport and see me as a role model.”
What motivates you?
“What motivates me every day is my mum and family, as I want to make them proud and show the people that doubted me that I can do anything that I put my mind to. I believe that no hard work goes without a reward and if I keep on training hard and committing myself to everything, I’m doing I will see myself on the Olympic podium collecting the gold medal I worked extremely hard for.”
