Kukri Sports is pleased to welcome Qi-Chi Ukpai as one of the newest Youth Talent Programme Ambassadors.

A talented young athlete, Qi-Chi competes in triple jump, high jump, long jump and sprints, and is already making her mark in athletics.

How did you first get involved in athletics?

“I first got involve in athletics at a young age through my primary school. My PE teachers introduced me to various events, from long distance running to high jump, and from there, I joined my local athletics club.”

What club and school are you associated with?

“I compete for Blackheath and Bromley Harriers Athletics Club and am currently a student at Simon Langton Girls Grammar School.”

What events do you compete in?

“I compete in the three jumps – triple jump, high jump and long jump – as well as sprints.”

What has been your proudest moment in athletics so far?

“My proudest moment was becoming the SIAB 2023 International champion in Grangemouth, Scotland.

“It was my first time representing England, and I also received the David Littlewood Medal for the most outstanding performance by an England female athlete as a first-year U17. The personal best I achieved was also the sixth best distance of all time for an Under-17 woman in the UK at the time, and a Blackheath and Bromley Athletics Club record.”

What are your long-term goals in Athletics?

“My ultimate goal is to reach my full potential and become the best athlete I can be. I plan to keep improving by learning from my performances and always striving to be better.”

Who are your role models in athletics?

“Usain Bolt is my biggest role model. His work ethic, determination and ability to overcome challenges have inspired me to always push myself.

“He’s also a great example of clean sport, which is something I really respect.”

What does becoming a Kukri Sports YTP Ambassador mean to you?

“I’m thrilled to be a Kukri Sports YTP Ambassador. It’s an amazing opportunity to work with such a respected brand.

“I’m excited to promote them and also learn more about being a sponsored athlete, as well as looking forward to growing my social media presence and connecting with the athletes community.”
