CELEBRATING NINE YEARS OF SPORTING EXCELLENCE WITH HEREWORTH SCHOOL

New Zealand

Hereworth School has recently debuted its brand-new rugby jersey, designed and supplied by long-standing sportswear supplier Kukri Sports, who have an office in New Zealand.

A partnership built on pride and performance

The developments mark nine years of trusted partnership, a collaboration that continues to fuel the school’s sporting success and reinforce its strong sense of identity, both on and off the field.

The jersey pays tribute to the original colours and classic styling first worn when the school was founded in 1927.

The design not only honours past generations of Hereworth athletes, but also connects today’s students to the enduring values of discipline, teamwork and school pride.

The first XV rugby team debuted the jersey in an action-packed morning of sport, winning their game along with the hockey and 2nd XI football match against Lindisfarne.

Driving participation and growth

Kukri continues to play a key role in supporting Hereworth’s sporting programme, empowering students across a variety of sports to compete with pride.

Recent highlights include the launch of the school’s first-ever Netball team, as well as multiple teams competing in fixtures against other schools. A standout moment last year was the winter prep fixture against Scots College, which saw 108 students compete across various sports – including the girls’ football teams playing their first-ever match against each other.

A New Zealand School Partnership Built on Resilience and Dedication

New Zealand

For the past seven years, Kukri Sports has proudly partnered with Christchurch Boys’ High School (CBHS – based in New Zealand), a relationship marked by mutual respect, shared goals, and the ability to overcome challenges. This partnership is a testament to our commitment to providing high-quality sportswear and uniforms while navigating the inevitable hurdles that come with such a comprehensive supply chain.

Overcoming Challenges Together

Our journey with CBHS has not been without its trials, but each obstacle has only strengthened our resolve and demonstrated our dedication to the school community.

Lost Cricket Kit: One of the significant challenges we faced was the loss of the CBHS 1st XI cricket kit by FedEx. With the first game only 20 days away, the clock was ticking. We immediately swung into action, remanufacturing the entire kit and ensuring its delivery before the first match. This swift response ensured that the team could take the field with pride and confidence.

Unique Baggy Hat Production: When the supplier of the iconic CBHS 1st XI cricket baggy hat ceased production, we were determined to maintain the tradition. We sourced the necessary fabric and initiated a production run of 40 hats, preserving the unique identity of the team. The result was a product that met the school’s high standards and reinforced our commitment to meeting their specific needs.

Innovative Reversible Tees: CBHS faced a persistent issue with students wearing house tees during PE classes. We introduced a single-layer reversible tee, with house colors on one side and PE colors on the other. This innovative solution not only resolved the problem but also became a game-changer for the school, simplifying uniform management and ensuring consistency.

Emergency Scarf Supply: When the school’s scarf supplier discontinued their product, we stepped in to deliver a double-layered wool scarf in time for the college day event. This timely intervention highlighted our ability to provide high-quality products under tight deadlines.

Building Strong Relationships

The strength of our partnership goes beyond mere problem-solving. It is built on regular, meaningful interactions and a deep understanding of the school’s needs. Craig Dunnett, Deputy Principal of CBHS, encapsulates this sentiment:

“Kukri have always gone the extra yard for us. We acknowledge the work Zach and Mark put into the relationship. From attending important school events, getting to know staff, and making regular visits, they help us both deal with any issues that arise. Our uniform shop is important to the school, and the lads go to lengths to ensure the smooth delivery of our uniforms.”

This relationship is not just about business; it is about being an integral part of the CBHS community. Our frequent visits and participation in school events help us stay connected and proactive in addressing any concerns.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to expand our role with CBHS we remain committed to supporting CBHS with the same dedication and resilience that have defined our partnership so far. Our goal is to ensure that the students and staff of CBHS can always rely on us for quality, consistency, and innovative solutions.

In conclusion, our seven-year journey with Christchurch Boys’ High School is a shining example of how Kukri Sports overcomes challenges to provide unwavering support to our partners. We look forward to many more years of collaboration, innovation, and success.
