Kukri Sports is proud to announce the addition of first-year Loughborough University student and rising hockey star Monty Neave as its newest brand ambassador.
A talented athlete with a promising future, Monty represents the spirit of dedication, resilience and high-performance that define Kukri as a brand.
Monty, a current first-year student studying Psychology at Loughborough University, continues to thrive in Hockey, not only representing Loughborough Hockey men’s team, but also featuring in the 18-man Great Britain squad that were crowned winners of the Sultan of Johor Cup in October 2024.
In his new role, Monty will help connect Kukri with the next generation of athletes and share his journey as he continues to rise in British hockey.
“It’s a privilege to be named as a brand ambassador for Kukri Sports,” he said.
“I’m really looking forward to working with the brand helping it to grow even more. This is my first experience as a brand ambassador for a sportswear supplier, so I’m excited to make new connections within the sports marketing industry and build my brand.”
Currently representing England U21s and the GB Elite Development Programme, Monty has quickly established himself as an exciting prospect in British hockey.
His journey from a small local club in Berkshire, his hometown, to the top level of junior international hockey is a testament to his perseverance and passion for the sport.
Having started hockey at the age of 12, Monty’s rise hasn’t been without setbacks, from missing out on county selection at U13 to pushing through a pandemic-induced break in play, he’s shown resilience at every turn.
“I didn’t make England U18 in my first year, but I kept working. I eventually broke through, trained with the U21 and later was selected for both U21 England and GB EDP – now I’m in my second year with both,” he reflects.
As a student-athlete at Loughborough University, in which Kukri has been the long-standing official teamwear supplier for, Monty is taking advantage of one of the UK’s most elite sporting environments as he continues to develop.
“I love how professional the set-up feels,” he said. “From strength and conditioning coaches to nutritionists and physiotherapists, we’ve got access to so much support.
“The high level of hockey here really pushes you to improve, and the culture in the team is incredible.”
Balancing sport with academics is no easy task, but Monty’s approach is grounded in solid preparation and self-awareness.
“Time management has been key for me – planning ahead, prioritising, and knowing when to ask for help.
“The support from the performance lifestyle team at Loughborough has really helped, especially when I had to miss two weeks of lectures while playing in the Sultan of Johor Cup in Malaysia.”
Looking ahead to his second year, Monty’s goals are clear. “I want to become a key player for Loughborough, win silverware, and make the most of every opportunity the programme offers.
“Most importantly though, I want to improve as a hockey player.”
Kukri Sports is excited to support Monty as he continues his journey on and off the pitch and are committed to supporting him as he develops as a hockey player.
