Kukri Sports is pleased to welcome Lizzie Dodds as one of its new Youth Talent Programme Ambassadors for 2024.
Lizzie, a rising star in para-athletics as a T38 para-athlete, represented England in this year’s Welsh Internationals in Cardiff in the para 100m and has a bright future ahead of her.
Tell us about yourself and your athletic background?
“I’m 16 years old and have a quadriplegic dystonic cerebral palsy which affects my muscle tone and range of movement. My love for athletics started when I was watching the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympic Games.”
What athletics club and school/college are you associated to?
“I joined Doha Athletics club in 2018, which is when my passion for the sport started. Since moving back to England, I have trained with Shrewsbury Athletics Club, and am currently studying my A-Levels at Wrekin College.”
What event do you compete in?
“I’m a T38 para-athlete and compete in the 100m and 200m, and have recently started long jump too.
What are your goals and aspirations in athletics?
“To become a Paralympian.”
What is your greatest achievement so far?
“My greatest achievement is representing England in August this year at the Welsh Internationals in Cardiff.”
Who is your Athletics idol and why?
“Whilst watching the London Paralympic Games, I was inspired by Hannah Cockroft and her dominance on and off the track.“
What do you know about Kukri sports?
“Kukri is a major clothing brand which produces high-quality sportswear for a number of sports.”
What does it mean to you to become a Kukri Sports YTP Ambassador?
“I feel honoured and very privileged to be a Kukri YTP Ambassador. It’s a fantastic opportunity and I’m really excited to start collaborating with Kukri, to showcase their amazing products and how they benefit athletes like me.
“I’m looking forward to developing my online presence as I start my journey into more regular international competitions.“
