Kukri-kitted Ulster turned on the style for their own belated New Year party when they went to the most feared ground in Europe, Thomond Park, and simply tore the reigning European champions, Munster, apart.
The Magners League 37-11 victory was a joy to watch, with the Ulster men producing easily their best performance for some time in scoring five tries and taking a bonus point away from Limerick.
It was almost too easy for the Kukri clad rugby Ulster team, scoring three tries in the first half through Paddy Wallace, Darren Cave and Mark McCrea.
The pack played their role too and prop Tom Court forced his way over early in the second half to secure the try scoring bonus point.
But they were not finished with that and Andrew Trimble grabbed a fifth try after man of the match Ian Humphreys put in a lovely crossfield kick for the Irish winger to run onto.
Munster grabbed a consolation near the end, but by then the Thomond Park faithfull had already been silenced.
