The Victorious Maralin Team With Their Principal Gillian Napier and Coaches Gill Jackson, Ruth Watt and Sandra Kilpatrick.
Well done those girls from Maralin Village Primary School hockey team who are currently celebrating a treble win having scooped the Mid Ulster championship, the Mid Ulster league and the N.I. championship - The McCloy Cup.
Maralin went to the N.I. finals as the Mid-Ulster champions and sailed through the group stages winning all 5 matches. Two more matches against Spires and Antrim saw the Kukri kitted girls still undefeated and through to the semi-finals against Windsor Hill which Maralin won 2-0. The girls won the final 1-0 after a hard fought match against Cookstown. The victorious team picked up the McCloy cup having not conceded one single goal in all 9 matches - amazing!
Having remained unbeaten in the league, Maralin won their section. They went through to the play offs remaining unbeaten and again failed to concede any goals throughout their 3 matches which earned them the well deserved title of Mid Ulster league champions. They are now the proud holders of three very impressive pieces of silverware!
Maralin Coach, Gill Jackson, commented: "I can't explain the pride felt in seeing the Maralin girls holding up the McCloy cup for the first time. Becoming Northern Ireland champions is quite an achievement for a small village primary school and one that none of us will ever forget!"
She adds: "We have used Kukri to provide our school kits for the last 6 years. Our teams are instantly recognisable even at a busy tournament, the quality of the co-ordinated materials are second to none and the girls look as amazing as they play!"
