The Wallace High School's Rugby team overcame a tough physical challenge to defeat Limavady GS 17-10 last week - a great result!
Both sides enjoyed early periods of possession, but Wallace opened the scoring with a breakaway try by Jordan Heatley after great work from Josh Ard. Wallace looked dominant at this stage and Cal McIlwaine scored another. Limavady bagged a penalty before half-time to bring themselves back into the game at 10-3 at the interval.
Limavady enjoyed their best period of the game after half-time with some uncharacteristic Wallace mistakes, and a converted try in the corner from the visitors levelled scores at 10-apiece. They continued to enjoy territorial advantage, but a superb break away by Jordan Grattan relieved the pressure.
Wallace set up camp in the Limavady 22 for the last 15 minutes of the game, and after multiple phases David Scott powered over for the winning try. James McCallan converted and the result was safe.
Congratulations to everyone at the school on a great battling display!
