Glentoran win the 'Battle of the Glens!'
Glentoran got back to winning ways with a 3-1 win over Glenavon in a 'Battle of the Glens.'

It was almost eleven years to the day since Glenavon had beaten Glentoran at Mourneview Park but, fresh from Glentoran's poor performance against Ballymena United in the previous game, they must have fancied their chances. Indeed, they took an early lead, Andy Graham's goal in the 6th minute putting Glenavon in front.

Gary Hamilton equalised for the visitors on 34 minutes, and ten minutes into the second half, skipper Colin Nixon edged them ahead. 3 minutes later, Nixon put the game to bed with a second making the score 3-1, and although Glenavon had chances, the result was never really in doubt.
