Good luck to Exeter University Ladies Rugby Team who head into the BUCS Championship rugby final where they'll face Leeds Met at Twickenham on the 27th of April.
The Kukri clad ladies booked their place in the final after defeating UWIC (University of Wales Institute) 24-0 in a hard fought battle. Exeter went in as under dogs already having lost to UWIC this season 23-10 and 27-3 and never having beaten them in any fixture to date!
UWIC were undefeated for 5 years prior to Exeter's victory - so what an achievement!
Exeter came out fighting within the first ten minutes and scored a sensational try. UWIC failed to respond and Exeter scored another making it 14-0 at half time. UWIC came out hard in the second half but Exeter withstood the pressure and defended like their lives depended on it. They kept up the pressure and scored another 2 tries - determined not only to win but win without conceding one single try.
The game finished 24-0 - an historic victory for Exeter University Women's Rugby, who now advance to the final to be played at Twickenham on Wednesday 27th April against Leeds Metropolitan University. Good luck ladies!
