Well done to the gorgeously Kukri kitted ladies of Bonagrass Grove who needed to go to a penalty shoot-out to overcome Milne Craig Western in their Scottish Cup Final.
It was the first time this season that the league champions had not won a game with Western drawing level 2-2 with ten seconds of regulation time remaining. But with the final strike of the penalty competition, Susan Hamilton set the league-and-cup celebrations in motion by securing the result 4-2.
The first goal came in the 23rd minute by Olympian Laura Bartlett. Leigh Fawcett's snap shot then equalised and Western suddenly had their backs to the wall as Louise Munn and Linda Clement raided their circle - the latter scoring an open goal.
Grove went ahead in the 65th minute thanks to Linsey Glass who laid it on for Ailsa Robertson to slot it in off a defender. But with the last hit of the game at a penalty corner, the strike by Bartlett - the player of the match - was saved, and Clare Scott pounced on the rebound to level from close range.
The penalty competition also reached an impasse at 2-2, but Ali Bell gave Grove the lead before Lorna Dobbie and Bartlett, for Western, and Glass each missed the next three efforts, leaving Hamilton to end the agony with Grove's final strike to secure the trophy.
Well done Ladies - we are loving your Kukri hockey skirts!
