Congratulations to our friends at King's School Macclesfield who are celebrating yet another big win! Their goal kicker Andy Hodgson held his nerve to win the Cheshire Sevens tournament with the last kick of the game recently.
A try from England international Jonny Kenny in the last play of the game had brought King's level at 22-22...and Hodgson was cool, calm and calculated, dropping the goal and giving King's a memorable win!
Hooker and skipper Kamlesh Sodha had earlier scored two tries in an end-to-end contest.
In the semi final Kingšs had beaten Wirral, Grammar School 26 - 10, with a clean sweep of wins in the group stages against Sandbach High, Bishop Heber High in Malpas and Cheadle Hulme School.
Coach Guy Mason said: "Sevens is a totally different game to fifteens in which you must keep the ball in open play and rely on your running an passing game and the squad adapted superbly to win the county title."
Pictured behind goal kicker Andy Hodgson are Jack Sadler, Henry Ravenscroft, Callum Jones, Jamie Duncan, Ollie Stockwin, Kamlesh Sodha, Jonny Kenny, Tom Foreman, Ben Marsden, Will Connor and Jamie Butler.
Congratulations to all the boys, coaches and everyone associated with another great achievement for this great school!
