There was some exciting news from one of Kukri's great Universities recently, as it was announced that Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh will visit the University of Exeter on Wednesday 2nd May 2012, as part of the Diamond Jubilee Tour.
The Queen will officially open the Forum, the University's exciting new development at the heart of the Streatham Campus, which will create an inspirational mix of outside and inside space. The £48 million development will include a new Student Services Centre, an extended and refurbished Library, new, technology-rich learning spaces, a 400-seat lecture theatre, retail and catering outlets, a landscaped piazza and a new University reception. It's part of a £350 million development programme across the University's campuses in Exeter and Cornwall. As you can tell, it's an exciting time all round for this fantastic University!
During the visit, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will meet University staff and students, as well as representatives for the counties of Devon and Cornwall. They will tour the Forum, watch music and theatre performances by students and find out about some of the cutting-edge research being carried out by the University. They will then enjoy a Devon and Cornwall-themed lunch, prepared by University chefs.
Members of the public are more than welcome to join University staff, students and guests in welcoming The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh to the Streatham Campus. Details of the visit will soon be made available on the University website so watch that space!
